This blog post for a previous event I held in November 2011, when I was running my Inspirations Cafes, has just been resent out of the blue to my subscribers. So even though it has been and gone the theme is very relevant to my new program, called 7 Steps to Transform your Life, that starts on Monday 20th May 2013
I am still really curious about different ways of approaching how we live our lives on a day to day basis. There are many different ways which can be adapted depending on what you truly want to achieve from your life. The approach we choose will also change depending on what stage of life we find ourselves in – whether we are single, in a relationship, have a young family, a grown up and independent family, or whether we are retired. There are many variables and many options.
And the bottom line still is that our life is a reflection of what we choose to do with each new day we are given, and the choices we make around what we do with our time.
So to all those amazing people out there who are ready to transform their lives by marching to their own internal drum beat come and join me for some extra support and inspiration on the next 7 Steps to Transform your Life course…
Well, I’ve finally done it. I’ve created the course that has been brewing for the last year. It’s on how to manage the process of change and is called 7 Steps to Transform you Life.
I’m feeling very excited about it as I have been learning how to let go and trust the process of creativity with this one. I needed to create the space in my head and in my life for the seeds of this course to develop and Wow has it developed! I been involved in the world of personal development and coaching now for many years and have gathered together many tools and resources that I can share. In this course I have chosen the ones that have had the biggest impact in my life and have been the simplest and easiest ones to implement.
So why not join me at the next FREE INTROUCTION session where I will share some new ideas and thoughts on change and why we can find it so hard to create the life we dream of.
When you want to create change in your life it is not a good idea to start from a place of neediness or dissatisfaction.
This would seem to be a contradiction in terms when setting goals, however, along with setting your goal there must also be a level of acceptance for where you are right now. It can be very hard to come to terms with where you are now when it is causing you a lot of pain and consequently it is this part of creating change that people struggle with the most. This is where having the support of someone, such as a coach, who understands the process of creating change is really important.
It is how you handle the present moment that will dictate how difficult or easy it will be for you to create the change you desire and ultimately the success you are looking for in life.
Eckhart Tolle, author of A New Earth, suggests a great question to ask yourself regularly…” What is my relationship with the present moment?”
Give it a try – and when you discover any resistance to the present moment contact Heather to talk about how coaching can help eliminate this block.
So you have decided you want to create a change in your life – to create different results. You start doing something differently or you start to use affirmations to change how you think. Everything goes along really smoothly for a while and you feel great, then out of nowhere you get swamped by challenges or emotions that can throw you into a place of confusion and stop you in your tracks. Why couldn’t you keep it up? What got in the way of achieving your goal? Why is it all so difficult?
This is where a coach is really useful to support you through the emotional roller coaster that you may start to experience with change. It is really useful to have the space and support to reflect on what has happened to throw you off course. Here are some of the reasons that can get in the way of creating your desired results…
There may be some deeply ingrained pattern of thoughts or beliefs that you were unaware of until now and these will need to be acknowledged and cleared.
You may start to experience feelings or emotions that you have managed to avoid before with your old behaviours. We tend to make life even more difficult by making ourselves wrong and beating ourselves up for feeling or experiencing what are considered negative emotions. This just serves to make us feel worse and we can spiral down into even more negative emotions which drain us of the energy we need to fulfill the change we desire.
There are often fears that surface when you start to move into a new way of being in the world. We can feel insecure because we are entering the unknown and don’t know how to respond to the new challenges in our lives – the old ways no longer seem to work, or feel really inappropriate now.
You may be challenged or criticised by people around you who don’t like the new way you are behaving. Again this is new territory when creating change because we don’t know what to say or do and it can be very tempting to go back to our old ways or patterns. Our resolve to stay committed to the change is being tested and we need to learn new ways to respond to those around us.
To help us through these challenges it is really useful to refocus on the outcome, the goal or intention that is driving our desire to change. What is it we are hoping to achieve through making these changes in our lives?
We will also need to call on support to help us through these challenging times and this is why it is really important to build strong support networks around us. We need to know who we can call on at these times when we doubt ourselves and our ability to create lasting change in our lives. If there is no one you can call on I strongly suggest that you fill this gap before you start to make big changes in your life.
Send me an email or give me call – 021 240 6535 if you are experiencing any of these challenges and need some support to make the changes you desire a reality.
I received an email from Dave Buck at Coachville this week promoting courses for the professional development of coaches. He had an interesting perspective on the economy which really caught my attention. He says…
The current economy is based on creating and selling STUFF in mass quantities to people who are thought of as “Consumers”. Well, this model is crumbling because people everywhere are rising in consciousness.
The more conscious you become, the less STUFF you desire.
You become less and less a consumer, and more and more a creator. What you desire is to create your life with joyful and fulfilling experiences that contribute to the lives of others; is more about fulfilling experience and less about accumulating STUFF. Yes, you will still desire a few nice things, but even those things will be based on beauty and meaning over quantity. This is what I have called: The Inspiration Economy.
This is what we do every day as a coach. And this is what we Coach our players and clients to do as well. We are the models and we have the service to help others live an “Inspiration Economy” life.
As the economy shifts and changes around us I truly believe it is a wonderful opportunity to reassess and choose to refocus on those things that are really important in our lives. As the purse strings tighten we may have to look at what we spend our money on and reassess what value we are getting from those spending habits. Do they give us a lasting sense of fulfilment or is there something more important that we could be doing with our time and money rather than going shopping.
I would love to hear your thoughts and any changes that you are making in your life that reflects these changing times – just add your comments below.
And if you are ready to make this paradigm shift in how you live your life, but don’t know how, please call/text Heather on 0212 406 535 or email me now to arrange a time to talk.
